At a glance
A wallet for every place your money is
A bank account, cash, a card or a phone wallet, each with one currency set when you create it.
Pay in the wallet's currency
Pick the wallet in the purchase sheet and the amount is in its currency, with its equivalent in your budget underneath the total.
Transfers between wallets
Move money between two wallets, even in two currencies; a transfer is neither spending nor income.
Spending stays one figure
Budget, safe-to-spend and reports are all in your budget's currency, while each wallet keeps its balance in its own.
Multiple wallets for tracking spending in more than one currency
Money rarely sits in one place: a pound account, a dollar account, cash in your pocket, a balance on your phone. In Masareefy each becomes a wallet in its own currency, so you know every wallet's balance on its own while the month's spending stays one figure in your budget's currency.
If one wallet is all you need, nothing changes: your main wallet stays as it is until you add a second.
How wallets work, step by step
Add a wallet
On My money, tap New wallet and give it a name, a type, a currency and how much is in it now. The currency never changes after that, and if you leave the balance blank, the wallet shows no balance until you enter one.
Choose your default wallet
Set a default wallet for new purchases; you can choose another in the purchase sheet.
Pick the wallet when you buy
Beside the total in the purchase sheet is the wallet button: pick the one you paid from, and the amount reads in its currency with its equivalent in your budget underneath.
Save
The amount is kept in the wallet's currency exactly as you typed it, counted in your budget at the exchange rate of the purchase date, and that rate is frozen with the entry.
Transfers between wallets: what left one and what reached the other
When you withdraw cash or move money from your pound account to your dollar account, record a transfer: the wallet the money left and the amount sent, the wallet it reached and the amount received. Both figures come from your own statement, so the app looks up no exchange rate: the first wallet's balance goes down by the amount sent and the second's goes up by the amount received. Between two wallets in the same currency, the amount sent is enough when all of it arrived.
Because a transfer is neither spending nor income, it leaves your budget and this week's room untouched.

Your wallets by voice
Say “Moved 1,000 from the bank to cash” and the transfer form opens with both wallets and the amount; name both wallets as they appear in your ledger. Between two currencies the amount that arrived stays empty for you to type as it arrived, never estimated at a rate. When you record a purchase by voice, name the wallet, such as “on the Visa”, to pick the wallet it was paid from. See everything you can say by voice.

Questions about wallets and currencies
Does the app connect my wallets to my bank?
No. Wallets and their balances are what you enter; Masareefy connects to no bank, card or e-wallet. You can update any wallet's balance when you check it against your statement.
Does the app add all my wallet balances into one number?
Yes, approximately: My money shows Everything you have as one figure in your budget's currency, converting each wallet in another currency at today's exchange rate, and says so under it with the rate's date. The figure appears only once every wallet's balance is known, and each wallet still keeps its own balance in its own currency. Spending is one figure: every purchase counts in your budget at the exchange rate of its date.
Can I change a wallet's currency after creating it?
No, a wallet's currency is set once. To move a purchase to a wallet in another currency, delete it and record it again; between two wallets in the same currency, move it from the edit sheet.
Does the person I share my ledger with see my wallets?
No. The member records purchases into the owner's main wallet and sees no wallets or balances.
Is Masareefy free?
Yes. Masareefy is free right now, with no payment card. Receipt scanning, voice logging and savings advice are for Premium accounts.
Can I move money between my wallets by voice?
Yes. Say the amount, the wallet you moved it from and the one you moved it to, and the transfer form opens filled in for you to review and save.
Add your second wallet and know what each one holds
Start with the wallet you use most and add the others when you need them; the month's spending stays one figure you know.
